The first vehicle sold by the company was a Ford K150 Truck sold on September 10, 1966 for R2654.00.
A 1928 Model A Ford Four Door, which is displayed on our showroom floor and was originally sold by Holmes Garage, Kimberley, for 280 pounds, was traded in for a new vehicle by its original owner at Orange Brug Garage, shamefully not a Ford, and traded by North Western on May 14, 1970 for a Holden to the value of R1085. The 1928 Ford, which has belonged to one owner for 42 years and has been in North Western ownership ever since, was originally used for weddings, etc. , but retired during 2010 and is displayed since then as an honored guest on our showroom.
Maans Loubscher’s shares were later taken over by Chrisjan Liebenberg who again sold his shares to Herman Fouche with Jordaan and Fouche as active and managing directors.
During 1970, Amos van Niekerk took over the shares of Herman Fouche and during 1980 the then bookkeeper Kais Malan also bought shares in the Company.
On August 4, 1987, Amos van Niekerk passed away and his son André took over his share. André bought the various shareholders’ shares from 1990 to 1996 and has been the sole owner since 1 May 1996.
During 2007, André and Fransie’s two children, Denise and Hugo, joined the business with Denise as Finance and Insurance Manager and Hugo as Customer Service Manager and both acting as general managers as their experience progresses. The younger daughter, Udene, was active in the business too during her studies and married in January 2018 and emigrated to Canada.
